MLA Raghupathi Bhat inaugurates Beach Utsav 2012

Udupi, Jan 28, 2012 : Delivering the inaugural address at Beach Utsav 2012 on Jan 28 Saturday, MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat said that the beach festival held at Malpe last year was a roaring success, having attracted over 40,000 people.

Before delivering the inaugural address, he had declared the event open by releasing balloons and pigeons into the air.

Further, he recalled that, during the valedictory ceremony of last year’s Beach Utsav, the chief minister had promised to sanction Rs. 10 lakh for the event in order to make it more attractive.

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Shankar Poojary, the president of the ZP, said that Udupi is progressing rapidly and the credit for this goes to District-in-charge Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya.

Addressing the gathering MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary said that Udupi has made history in Karnataka and added that it is amazing to see thousands and thousands of people flocking to the Beach Utsav.

The chief guests of the event were Govind Karjol, the state minister for Kannada and culture; Kaup MLA Lalaji R. Mendon; H. T. Kidiyoor, the president of the District Fisheries Marketing Federation; Sudhakar Shetty, the former chairman of UDA; Purushottam P. Shetty, the managing director of Ujwal Developers; Devdas Hebbar, the president of the TP; and Dr. Ravi Kumar, the superintendent of police.

Yashpal Suvarna, the convener of the Beach Utsav committee, delivered the welcome address.
