Local people responsible for attack, declares HJV at press meet

Mangalore Today

Mangalore, July 29, 2012: The Hindu Janajagarana Vedike (HJV) announced at a press meet held today at Hotel Woodlands that the organization is in no way responsible for the attack on partying students at Morning Mist Home Stay. Instead, the organization blamed the people of Padil for the attack.

Addressing reporters, Jagadish Karanth, convener of HJV, said that the media had unnecessarily dragged the name of HJV into the incident, pointing out that it cannot be proved in any way that the culprits were associated with the HJV. Stating that there were hundreds of women standing outside the resort and supporting the culprits, he said that HJV is not a women’s wing and does not have any women members.

Stating that the people of Padil engineered the attack, he said that Subhash Padil was present at the venue not as a member of the HJV, but as a resident of Padil.

Stating that Mangalore is the home of the sex mafia and that the people of Padil were sick of illegal activities taking place in Morning Mist Home Stay, he said that the root cause of the attack was a sex racket and that the district administration has done nothing to investigate and eliminate this racket.

Expressing concern for innocent girls who are pushed into prostitution, he urged the police department and the district administration to monitor the activities of pubs, home stays, resorts, and spas. He also said that the female victims of the attack must be in the wrong because none of them have stepped forward to lodge a complaint.

Accusing the owner of Morning Mist Home Stay of encouraging prostitution at the resort, he  urged the district administration to take strict action against him. He also complained that everybody is blaming the HJV instead of curbing such illegal activities in the city. Warning that the HJV will continue keeping an eye on live bands, pubs, and resorts, he suggested that those staying in resorts must compulsorily produce photo IDs and resort owners must install CCTVs in the premises.

He also said that the HJV had given a written complaint several times to the district administration, but to no avail.

A number of HJV activists were present at the press meet.
