Mangalore, Jan 31, 2012 : A labourer who was engaged in digging a well near Baikampady on Jan 30 Monday died when a pile of mud fell on him.


This happened at 1:00 p.m. near a petrol station located between Baikampady Industrial Area and Panambur.

The deceased is Vishnu of Kerala. He was digging the well with four other labourers who escaped wih their lives.

The labourers had dug 25ft deep into the ground when suddenly the walls of the well collapsed.

Vishnu (22) was employed by Shyam Earthmovers.

The rescue team took 6 hours to retrieve his body and bulldozers had to be used for the purpose.

The body has been taken to Wenlock Hospital for post mortem. The Panambur police are yet to register a case.
