Kundapur: Two cars collide on NH-66 at Thekkatte; vehicles badly damaged

Kundapur, Feb 2, 2026: Two cars were severely damaged in a collision on National Highway 66 near Canara Bank at Thekkatte on Sunday, February 1.
According to eyewitnesses, a Maruti Suzuki Fronx travelling from Kundapur towards Udupi rammed into a Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 that was proceeding in the same direction. The accident occurred when the Alto K10 driver attempted to turn left from NH-66 onto the inner road leading to Bandebailu, and the driver of the car behind reportedly lost control and crashed into it.
The impact caused the airbags of the Maruti Fronx to deploy, after which the vehicle struck a roadside electric pole, snapping two electric poles.
The collision left the rear portion of the Maruti Alto K10 completely damaged, with two of its tyres bursting. The driver of the Maruti Fronx, Narasimha Holla of Kundapur, sustained minor injuries. No casualties were reported.
Kota police rushed to the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case.
