Kundapur: Short circuit guts online service centre; equipment worth lakhs destroyed

Kundapur, Feb 17, 2026: An online service centre was completely gutted in a fire caused by an electrical short circuit on Monday night at Tekkatte. The incident occurred at Ashlesha Online Service Centre, which was operating inside Sri Navashakti Kalyana Mantapa near Kannukere on National Highway 66.
The fire reportedly broke out after the shop owner, Phaniraj Hathwar Koravadi, had closed the shop for the day and returned home.
Computers, printers, stationery items, an inverter battery, chairs, tables, and other equipment were destroyed in the blaze. The loss is estimated to run into several lakhs of rupees.
Local youths rushed to the spot and attempted to douse the flames. Later, personnel from the Kundapura Fire and Emergency Services arrived and brought the fire under control.
Concerned officials visited the site and conducted an inspection.
