Kundapur, Apr 7, 2026: Four people were injured in a chain accident involving a car, a truck, and a scooter at Mullikatte Junction on National Highway 66 on April 6.
The injured have been identified as pedestrian Surya Kharvi, scooter rider Manjunath, and car occupants Vatsala and driver Satish Shetty.
According to sources, the car, allegedly driven at high speed by Satish, first rammed into a truck ahead. It then hit Surya, who was on foot, before crashing into Manjunath’s scooter heading towards Kundapur.
Surya suffered serious injuries to his head and limbs, while Manjunath sustained minor injuries. Local residents, along with Ibrahim Gangolli, driver of the Gangolli 24x7 ambulance, rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.
The impact left the car badly mangled, while the scooter was flung off the road. The truck also sustained damage to its front left portion.
Police said reckless and high-speed driving by the car driver was the primary cause of the accident. Based on a complaint by truck driver Sridhar Naik, a case has been registered at Gangolli police station.
