Kasaragod: One-year-old boy seriously injured in stray dog attack

Kasaragod, Jul 21, 2026: A one-year-old boy was seriously injured after being attacked by a stray dog while playing in the courtyard of his house at Jodukallu near Uppala in Kasaragod district.

The injured child has been identified as Rithuraj, son of Guruprasad Acharya and Tulasi. He has been admitted to Kasaragod General Hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the child’s mother had stepped outside to hang washed clothes for drying. While the boy was playing in the yard, a stray dog entered the premises and suddenly attacked him.

Before the mother could rush to drive the dog away, the child had sustained severe facial injuries. He was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

In another incident in the same locality, a stray dog attacked a cow and its calf belonging to Chandrashekhar Shetty, which had been tethered in a nearby grazing field, leaving both animals injured.

Frequent stray dog attacks in the area have caused concern among local residents, who have urged the authorities to take immediate steps to control the growing stray dog menace.
