Karkala: Man stabbed to death over woman’s friendship, accused arrested

Karkala, Aug 27, 2025: A man was stabbed to death over a woman’s friendship in Kuntalpadi under Karkala Town Police Station limits in the early hours of August 26.

The deceased has been identified as Naveen Poojary, a native of Mangaluru. Police have arrested the accused, Pariksith (44), a resident of Nada in Belthangady taluk.

 

On the morning of August 26, Naveen’s body was found by the roadside with stab injuries. During investigation, CCTV footage and technical evidence revealed that Pariksith had committed the murder. He was taken into custody, Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar said.

The accused, Pariksith, was working as a bus driver in Mangaluru. After obtaining a divorce, he had been living alone in a rented house at Doopadakatte, Karkala. Meanwhile, Naveen’s wife and children have been residing in Mangaluru, while he had been living separately from them for the past four to five years.

Investigations revealed that Naveen had developed a close friendship with a woman known to Pariksith, which the latter strongly disapproved of. This led to frequent quarrels between the two. Police confirmed that this dispute ultimately drove Pariksith to murder Naveen Poojary.
