Mangaluru, January 10, 2026: A state-level cashew fair will be organised in Mangaluru in February, Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre announced on Friday.
Speaking after visiting the office of the Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation, Khandre said that Dakshina Kannada district leads the state in cashew cultivation, and there is significant demand for cashew saplings in the region. “Cashew products are in high demand both domestically and internationally. As local production does not meet the demand, India often imports cashew from abroad,” he noted.
To support coastal cashew growers, the upcoming fair aims to connect growers with industry stakeholders and expand the cashew market. The event will include product exhibitions, seminars, and programmes covering various aspects of the sector.
Khandre added that the department will ensure cashew growers receive fair and scientific pricing. Measures related to research, expansion, and other initiatives will also be implemented to boost production further.
Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation Chairperson Mamatha Gatti highlighted that Dakshina Kannada produces around 40,000 metric tonnes of cashew annually. She noted the strong demand for cashew products and saplings in rural areas and said the Corporation will formulate plans to meet this demand in the coming days.
