Mangalore Today News Network

Kadaba, Feb 27, 2026: Allegations have surfaced that a man, who was out on bail in connection with a wild boar hunting case reported from Aithoor in the Subrahmanya forest range, was inhumanely assaulted after being called to the Range Forest Officer’s office to record his statement. The injured youth has been admitted to the Puttur Government Hospital.

A case had recently been registered against Jeevan (27), son of Monappa Gowda, a resident of Konde Mane in Aithoor village of Kadaba taluk, and Jain Varkey (50), a resident of Kermai in 102 Nekkiladi village, for allegedly hunting a wild boar in the Aithoor forest. It is said that both had gone to the Subrahmanya Range Forest Officer’s office on Wednesday to give their statements.

Assault

It has been alleged that Jain Varkey was sent outside, following which Jeevan was brutally assaulted. He was later taken to the Kadaba Community Health Centre for medical examination. As news of the assault spread, members of the public gathered at the hospital premises and expressed anger against the forest officials.

The public has demanded action against Subrahmanya Range Forest Officer Vimal Babu and staff members Prakash and Adarsh for the alleged assault. The seriously injured youth was later shifted to Puttur Government Hospital for further treatment.
