Udupi, Dec 14, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer on Saturday said India has an increasingly vital role to play in promoting global peace in a world marked by conflict, division and uncertainty.
Speaking at the Vishwa Shanti Samavesha, a Global Peace Conclave organised by the Paryaya Sri Puthige Mutt, the Governor said India has always upheld the idea that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of mutual respect, responsibility and cooperation. Quoting verses from the Bhagavad Gita, he underlined the importance of cooperation, gratitude and selfless duty for the collective good of humanity.

Justice Nazeer said India’s spiritual heritage, democratic values and commitment to human dignity uniquely position the country to guide global discourse on peace. He noted that through humanitarian efforts, climate leadership, cultural diplomacy and moral guidance, India continues to stand for harmony both domestically and internationally.
Referring to India’s civilisational roots, he said the Vedas form the intellectual and philosophical foundation that unites the country despite its vast cultural diversity. He also stressed that dialogue remains one of the most powerful tools for peace, as conflicts often arise from a breakdown in communication.
The Governor said the conclave served as a reminder that lasting peace is built through conversation, compassion and cooperation, not force. He added that values such as humility, non-violence, tolerance, simplicity and self-control are the true markers of knowledge.
Sadguru Sri Madhusudhana Sai, founder of One World-One Family; William F. Vendley, secretary general emeritus of Religions for Peace; and Sri Sugunendra Thirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Puthige Mutt were present.
