Hundreds of colorful goodu deepa exhibited at Namma Kudla event

Mangalore, Oct 23, 2011: An exhibition of more than 600 colorful goodu deepas made by the participants of the 12th annual goodu deepa competition held by Namma Kudla, the popular TV channel, at Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple today, formed the highlight of the event. 

A number of people participated in this unique contest, held to keep alive age-old Diwali traditions and to give people a chance to showcase their talents, and made goodu deepas of colored paper, bamboo, and colored lights in the unique, modern, and traditional categories.

 

While gold medals were conferred on the first and second prize winners, ten consolation prizes were awarded in each of the 3 categories. 

The Namma Tuluver Award was conferred on Dr. Shantharam Shetty, the vice chancellor of Nitte University, the Namma Kudla 2011 Award was conferred on dance guru Master Vittal, and the Bala Prathibe Award was conferred on artiste Prihali on this occasion.

Tulunada Vaibhava, a cultural event, was presented by Chandrashekar Suvarana of Suvarna Arts in Mulky and his team. Dance artistes Dinesh Attavar, Vibha Lakshmi, Jnaneshwari Joshi, Mayur Ullal, and others also presented performances. A music event was presented by Kasturi, with the entire programme telecast live on V4 Channel. 

H. S. Sairam, president and administrative officer of Shri Gokarnanatheshwara Kshetra; Raghavendra Kulur, the vice president; Dr. B. G. Suvarna, the trustee; and B. P. Karkera, the founder of Namma Kudla, were also present on the occasion.
