Hassan: In love with another man, bride calls off wedding halfway through rituals, cops come to rescue

Hassan, May 24, 2025: In a filmy style, a bride stopped her wedding last minute, when the groom was about to tie the nuptial knot, saying she is in love with another man, at a choultry in Hassan, on Friday.

The priests were conducting the rituals and the groom was ready to tie the mangalsutra, when the bride stopped him, saying that she didn’t want the marriage. She told the groom that she is in love with another man and her parents had threatened her into getting married.

 

The woman’s paramour had reportedly called her on her mobile phone a few minutes before the mangalsutra ritual.

The girl’s decision led to quarrels between the two families. The Badavane police visited the spot and brought the situation under control.

 

 

Police took members of both the families to the police station to hold a discussion and convinced the families. Both the families decided to share the wedding expenses and the groom’s family agreed to cancel the marriage. The groom is a teacher at a government school and is said to have spent lakhs of rupees for the wedding.

The bride left the choultry with her lover.
