Sullia, Mar 16, 2026: In a unique judgment, a court in Sullia has ordered a habitual traffic rule violator to perform community service in addition to paying a fine.
According to the case details, Rakshith G., a resident of Sullia, repeatedly violated traffic rules in Sullia town on March 12, 2026. Following the violations, Sub-Inspector Santosh B.P. of the Sullia Police Station registered three separate petty cases against him under the IMV Act (Sections 119 r/w 177, 184, and 194(C)).
The charge sheet was later submitted before the Sullia SCJ and JMFC Court. After hearing the case, the court imposed the following punishments:
Fine: A total fine of ₹3,000 was imposed in two separate cases.
Community Service: As part of the special punishment, the accused has been directed to perform community service for 15 days—from March 15 to March 29, 2026. During this period, he must stand at major junctions in Sullia town and create awareness among the public about traffic rules.
Awareness Boards: The court also directed him to hold placards carrying traffic awareness messages while performing the service.
Driving Licence Suspension: The court further ordered suspension of the accused’s driving licence for three months.
The verdict has been widely appreciated by the public as a strong message to those who violate traffic rules repeatedly.
