Government not responsible for transfer of police officers – DVS

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jan 4, 2012: Interacting with reporters after landing at Mangalore Airport this morning, D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the chief minister of Karnataka, rubbished the allegations leveled against him that he was involved in the transfer and suspension of police officers in connection with the recent attack on Sullia Police Station by members of the Sangh Parivar.

Further, he said that the government is least interested in interfering with such cases and has given complete freedom to the police department to inquire into such cases and take action without fear or favour.

He said it was not the government, but the police department that took action against the police officers, following a report submitted by Bipin Gopalkrishna, the state additional director general of police, who had investigated the case.

When asked about the argument between K. S. Eshwarappa, the state president of the BJP, and B. S. Yeddyurappa, the former chief minister, he said that the BJP high command will solve any issue between the two.
