Mangaluru, May 5, 2026: Ongoing cooking gas shortage has pushed the hotel industry into deeper crisis. Along with the rising prices of commercial LPG, the inadequate supply of gas has further strained hotel operations.
As commercial gas supply fails to meet demand, hotel owners are being forced to explore alternative arrangements. While some hotels have turned to traditional wood-fired stoves, others have modified their menus to cope with the situation.
Several establishments have adopted a shift-based system, offering limited breakfast items such as tea and coffee in the morning, serving simple meals in the afternoon, and remaining closed during the evening and night hours.
Hotels are managing their daily operations based on the availability of gas cylinders. Some are serving limited lunch and dinner menus, while others have restricted their services to only morning breakfast and evening snacks.
