Former St Philomena College Professor Dr Oliver Palanna Passes Away at 84

Bengaluru, August 7, 2025: Dr. Oliver Gladson Palanna (84), former Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry at St. Philomena College, Puttur, passed away in Bengaluru on Thursday due to age-related ailments.
Dr. Palanna served at St. Philomena College for 33 years before continuing his academic journey in Bengaluru. He held teaching and leadership roles at AMC Engineering College, East West College of Engineering and RNS Institute of Technology for over a decade. He also authored several chemistry textbooks that were widely used in academic circles.
He is survived by his wife, Prema Sarojini Palanna; daughter, Sarita Soans; sons, Sudhir and Sudeep; eight grandchildren; brother, Roland Palanna; and sister, Evelyn.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 9, at 3:30 p.m. at the Indian Christian Cemetery (Gate 1), Hosur Road, Bengaluru.
