Mangalore, July 24: K. S. Eshwarappa, the state president of the BJP, who had visited Mangalore today with C. T. Ravi, the MLA of Chikmagalur and state general secretary of the BJP, refused to answer reporters’ queries and excused himself by saying that the time was not proper to make any statements.
Eshwarappa held a 4-hour-long meeting with the leaders of the district BJP to assess the party’s organizational strengths and weaknesses in the district. When reporters surrounded him at the end of the meeting, he said that he had not come to hold a press conference and promised that he will invite all reporters to a press conference during his next visit.
However, Mr. Ravi flayed the governor and warned him not to make any more attempts to pull down a “democratically elected government.” Mr. Ravi stated that the governor has already made a number of attempts to destabilize the government, but has failed, adding that the governor ought to have learned his lessons by now.
Eshwarappa is currently on a tour of all districts in a bid to enhance the organizational strength of the BJP. He will first pay a visit to Sanghanikethan, the headquarters of the RSS in Mangalore, after which he will proceed to Udupi.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, the MP of Mangalore; N. Yogish Bhat, the deputy speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly; and Krishna J. Palemar, the district-in-charge minister; were also present at the meeting.
