Mangalore, Feb 1, 2012: St. Aloysius College organized a national-level science fest Imprints 2012 on the theme “science fiction – the innovative reality” in the college auditorium on Light House Hill Road on Feb 1. Dr. Shantharam Shetty, the MD of Tejaswini Hospital and vice chancellor of Nitte University, inaugurated the event. 


In his address, he said that St. Aloysius School and College are responsible for his current status in life. Recalling his student days, he said that he feels happy to see the playground and classrooms and added that the precious moments spent in this institution can never be forgotten.

Delivering the presidential address, Fr. Joseph Rodrigues spoke of the need to update one’s knowledge and need to stay motivated always.

Annual commerce fest Acme 2012 inaugurated at St. Aloysius College

Mangalore, Feb 1, 2012: Fr. Denzil Lobo, the director of AIMIT, inaugurated Acme 2012, the annual commerce festival organized by the Aloysian Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT) on Feb 1 Wednesday.

In his inaugural address, he spoke about the objectives of education. Stating that education must not be confined to classrooms, he said that such events help promote skills and discipline among students.

A total of 10 colleges from Goa and Karnataka are participating in the festival.

Fr. Swebert D’Silva, the principal of St. Aloysius College, said that the college encourages students to not only develop required skills, but also have a concern for the underprivileged sections of society.

Dr. A. M. Narahari, the registrar of St. Aloysius College; Fr. Francis D’Almeida, the vice principal; Manuel Tauro, the HOD of the commerce department; Dr. Suresh Poojary, the dean of the commerce department; and Kevin Crasta, the secretary of the Commerce Association, were also present.

The valedictory ceremony will be held on Feb 2 Thursday, during which the winners’ trophy will be presented.
