Mangalore, Dec 4, 2011: The fifth Rxlife Cycle Rally, an annual cycling event organized to convey messages of healthy lifestyle, was flagged off by Dr. M. Mohan Alva of the Alva’s Education Foundation on the early morning of Dec 4 at Lady Hill.
The rally covered 21kms through Kuloor, Kottara, and Pejawar, before finally returning through the same route. Dr. Sudhesh Rao of FACT and his team of doctors demonstrated life-saving and critical care skills.

Water, oranges, and lime juice were provided along the route. NITTE arranged the first aid support and ambulance facility through KS Hegde Medical Hospital. A cycle rescue vehicle was also arranged in case a participant’s cycle broke down during the rally.
The organizers say that the event is held annually to popularize cycling, to enhance awareness on fuel conservation, and to help people develop traffic sense and love for outdoor activities such as riding.
The rally also aims at bringing the attention of city planners and the district administration to various cyclists’ issues.
