Mangaluru, June 15, 2025: With heavy rains battering the coastal region for the past two days, District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has instructed the Dakshina Kannada district administration to implement immediate precautionary measures to minimize public inconvenience and damage.
In a statement, the Minister confirmed that he has spoken to Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP and Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Ravichandra Naik, issuing directives to ensure effective management of rain-related challenges.
He emphasized the need for officials to remain on the ground to monitor the situation closely. Specific instructions included clearing landslides along key roads, maintaining constant communication with the National Highways Authority of India, and resolving connectivity issues in disrupted areas.
Minister Rao also directed the relocation of families living in low-lying, flood-prone areas to relief centres. He stressed the importance of being prepared for additional rainfall, instructing tahsildars and officials to stay vigilant and ensure swift action in relocating families from vulnerable houses to safer locations. Rescue materials are to be kept on standby, with efforts focused on preventing loss of life.
The control room is expected to operate 24/7 to address public complaints and coordinate responses to emergencies. The Minister warned that negligence in handling disaster management operations would not be tolerated, urging officials to exercise maximum caution during this critical period.
