Ashok said that the demand to revise the pay scale of police personnel will be considered after discussing it with the home secretary and the DG. He also said that the CM will earmark funds in the upcoming budget session.

Speaking about the alleged inflammatory speech delivered on the occasion of the Hindu Samajotsava in Uppinangady, he said that action will be taken as soon as the CD of the speech is reviewed. He said that the police have already filed a first information report (FIR) and are investigating the case.

When asked about the central government’s delay in marking Karnataka as a naxal-infested area, he said that naxals are not that active in Karnataka although special naxal packages and combing operations will be continued. Further speaking about the naxal problem, he said that many of the naxals active in the state are hired naxals from Tamil Nadu. Stating that the DG is prioritizing naxal issues, he said that the government will continue offering special packages to encourage naxals to return to the mainstream.

In response to a reporter’s query regarding the opposition’s demand for the resignation of Speaker K. G. Bopaiah, he said that the Supreme Court’s recent decision has closed this chapter for good and that the opposition is making a noise about it because it does not have any other issue to raise.
