Mangalore, Jan 20, 2012: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) organized a protest during which they held black flags in front of the office of the district-in-charge minister on the premises of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on Jan 20 Friday, protesting about the failure of the police department to arrest those who killed a mother-daughter duo in Panjimogaru. The protestors also demanded that the case should be handed over to the CBI.
It may be recalled that Razia and her 8-year-old daughter were killed in broad daylight six months back, and the police have not yet managed to crack the case.
DYFI Secretary Dayananda Shetty condemned the failure of the police to solve a case that has shocked the entire district. Stating that the police have clearly proved that they cannot handle the case, he said that the case must be handed over to the CBI.
The protestors also shouted slogans against the state government and the district administration.
Muneer Katipalla, the district president of the DYFI, and office bearers of the Panjimogaru unit of the DYFI, were also among the protestors.
