DVS inaugurates Koti Chennayya Theme Park

Karkala, Jan 29, 2012: Chief Minister D. V. Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the brand new Koti Chennayya Theme Park on Jan 28 Saturday. 

In his inaugural address, he said that the youth must draw inspiration from the sacrifices and ideals of Koti Chennnayya. He also informed that the park is the first phase of a larger project worth Rs. 178 lakhs and urged that the project should be continued and that the place must be developed as a tourist centre.

Stating that money has been spent from the MLAs fund for the purpose, he said that a medicinal garden named in honor of Thaayi Devi Baidithi, the mother of Koti Chennayya, must be created.
The inauguration ceremony was organized jointly by the Kannada and Culture Department and the district administration. 

Artists Jayaraj, Arun, and Harish Pai and architect Purushottam Adve were also honored on this occasion. 

One of the highlights of the park is the 10-foot high statue of Koti Chennayya. 

Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary presided over the event. Higher Education Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya, State Minister for Kannada and Culture Govinda Karajola, CDA Chairman B. Nagaraj Shetty, MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik, Udupi MLA K. Raghupathy Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, and others were also present.
