Mangalore, July 25: U. T. Khader, the MLA of Mangalore, alleged that the funds sanctioned for development work in DK are being illegally diverted to Shimoga, the hometown of CM B. S. Yeddyurappa. Speaking to reporters at the office of the District Congress, Khader accused the BJP-led state government of behaving like a stepmother toward the coastal district.
Pointing out the fact that all development projects launched in DK have come to a stop because of the state government’s failure to pay Rs. 32 crore due to the contractors of the Public Works Department, the MLA lamented that not even a pothole is being filled in the city.
It may be recalled that Radhkrishna Nayak, the president of the PWD Contractors Association, recently stated that contractors, who have undertaken projects worth Rs. 100 crore in various parts of DK, will have to stop their work till the bills are paid.
Flaying the BJP for its attitude toward the pathetic political condition in the state, Khader said that even Nithin Gadkari, the national president of the BJP, should resign for supporting the most corrupt government of Karnataka.
