Mangalore, Sep 24, 2013: Margaret Alva, Governor of Rajasthan has said that corruption will continue to pose a bigger challenge to public life in India in the years to come.
Giving a talk on ‘Issues and Challenges in the next decade and the way ahead,” at the Gateway Hotel on September 23, Monday, Alva said it is not just allegations of corruption that is concerning, but even the collective failure to initiate effective steps to fight corruption, that is a matter of worry.
Stating that the introduction of Right to Information Act was a step in the right direction, she said there was a need to see to it that the RTI can provide details on the electoral fund, which she described as the fountain of corruption.
She also stated that poverty is another challenge which India will continue to face in the next decade and added despite the good growth rate, poverty has increased in the nation. The unemployment too has affected economic growth , she said.
