Udupi, Sep 27, 2011 : The Udupi office of Corporation Bank observed Hindi Day with Dr. Pawan Kumar, the professor of community medicine at KMC, as the chief guest.
The messages of the finance minister, the minister of home affairs, and the chairman and managing director of the bank were read out. Binu T. S., the manager (official language) presented a report of all the activities related to official language (OL) implementation throughout the year and read out the message of C. K. Gopal, the zonal head of the bank.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. Pawan Kumar spoke of the significance of Hindi, adding that it is the second most spoken language in the world after Chinese. He also lauded Corporation Bank for its efforts in implementing official language.
In his presidential address, N. M. Shenoy, the assistant general manager, said that knowledge of Hindi is essential for bankers because they are transferred to different parts of the country. He urged the staff to successfully implement official language in day-to-day bank activities.
The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of various competitions conducted during Hindi Month and as part of Corp Rajbhasha Purasakar Yojana and Corp Karyapalak Puraskar Yojana.
A colourful cultural presentation by the bank staff formed the highlight of the event.
