During the meeting, Palemar clarified that MCC will be doing the road work, but will be taking the assistance of builders because it does not have the required number of labourers and engineers.

Regarding the Rs. 100 crore released by the state government for road work in Mangalore, he said that MCC has used this fund to develop the main roads in the city, but work on footpaths, drains, and electric poles is still pending.

Stating that the funds will be withdrawn if the MCC does not utilize it on time, he said that builders are being involved in the project to finish it on time. Rubbishing the allegations of former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty, he said that the initiative is not to fill the coffers of builders, but to develop the city. Stating that the tender processes for some projects is complete, he said that work could not be initiated because of lack of labour force in the MCC, adding that now that builders will provide their labour force, the work will be completed in time and the funds will be utilized effectively.

The work on the KPT – Maravoor stretch will be followed by work on around 23 other roads in Mangalore, he said, adding that Nirmithi Kendra, a government agency, will supply the material for the same. The cost of this work will be borne by the government and the labour force will be provided by the builders. He also said that 80 engineers will be involved in this work.

While Lancy Mascarenhas of Lancy Constructions said that he will take up the work on the 1.5km stretch of Hoigebail Road at his own cost, Brigade Constructions said that they will not cooperate with the project because they have not received a license from the MCC. This angered the politicians, who said that everybody needs to cooperate because of the public benefits involved. Later, Credai suggested that all the builders will take up 23 different roads for development.

Corporator Ranganath Kini said that KMC will bear the costs for the development of KMC 6th and 7th cross road in Attavar.
