Mangalore, March 11, 2013 : Wilfy Rebimbus Day was observed on the theme ‘Celebrating Womanhood through the songs of Wilfy Rebimbus’ to commemorate the third death anniversary of the renowned singer who was popularly known as Konkani Kogull.
Judith Mascarenhas, former mayor, who was the chief guest of the occasion, recollected the yeoman contributions of Wilfy to the field of music. We were all lucky to hear his melodious voice, she added. Judith further pointed out how Wilfy’s compositions gave due significance to women.
Wilfy’s compositions on womanhood were rendered by several singers including Meena Rebimbus, Vishwas and Veena along with Alwyn Noronha, Prem Kumar, Ivan Sequeira, Babitha Pinto, Claude D’Souza and Zeena Pereira.
A few promising musical talents too got an opportunity to lend their voices to the songs of Wilfy.
Songs including Uzwad Chandremacho, Maay tuji maay, Ello mogh ello raag, Atra vorsa borthana chedwa mesmerized the gathering. The programme was further more impressive as most of the songs were enacted.
Gavin Rodrigues and team presented a spectacular dance show. The proceeds of the show would be utilized for the medical aid of cancer patients.
