Belthangady: Shop owner booked under POCSO for sexual harassment of minor girl

Belthangady, December 12, 2025: A POCSO case has been registered at Belthangady police station against a shop owner for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl who had visited his shop.

The accused, Tikka Muhammad Gerukatte, is said to have committed the assault when the girl went to the shop. According to the complaint, the accused had allegedly harassed the girl in a similar manner three to four times earlier and had threatened her not to tell anyone.

It is also reported that the accused tried to manipulate CCTV footage of the shop, sending it to others to portray the girl in a false light, when she entered and exited the shop one day.

Based on the minor girl’s complaint, the Belthangady police have registered a case against Muhammad Gerukatte under the POCSO Act and are continuing the investigation.
