Bantwal, Oct 10, 2025: Bantwal police have arrested two men for transporting ganja on a bike. The arrested have been identified as Abdul Sadiq and Abdul Majeed.

Police seized 8.79 kg of ganja worth Rs 88,700, a motorbike valued at ₹1 lakh, and other items — all worth a total of Rs 2,17,460 — from the accused.

Drugs

On October 8, around 11:50 a.m., PSI Sandeep Kumar Shetty and his team were on patrol duty near Goodinabali in the Bantwal police station limits. They noticed two men riding a bike from Panemangalore toward Bisiroadu wearing helmets. When the police signaled them to stop, they tried to flee instead. The police chased and intercepted them near Kaikunje railway station, took them into custody, and upon interrogation, discovered that they were attempting to transport ganja.

According to police, Abdul Sadiq and Abdul Majeed were previously involved in a similar case where they had transported ganja in a pickup vehicle. When excise officials chased them, they abandoned the vehicle with the contraband near Nandavara and escaped. Later, Abdul Sadiq kept the ganja at his friend Majeed’s house.

On October 8, while attempting to sell the ganja, the duo was caught by Bantwal town police. They have been produced before the Bantwal court, which has remanded them to judicial custody.
