Bantwal: Overtaking bid claims life of bike rider

Bantwal, May 15, 2024: A young bike rider lost his life after his two-wheeler came under a lorry at Maripalla on the NH at Bantwal on Tuesday evening.

The deceased is Sonu (19) of Uttar Pradesh origin. The pillion rider Prasad Poojary of Karkala who was seriously injured has been rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Both Sonu and Prasad worked at a hotel in Nelyady and were returning to Mangaluru after work when the mishap took place. The bike rider who had not noticed the barricade at the junction at Maripalla in a bid to overtake a container lorry, had hit the barricade. Both the riders later came under the tyres of the container lorry.
