Awards instituted in honor of Wilfy Rebimbus

Mangalore May 9: The award instituting ceremony of late Konkan Koghul Wilfy Rebimbus, a joint initiative of Mangalore Konkans Dubai and Sandesha Samskriti Shikshana Pratistana, was held at Sandesha School of Fine Arts on May 9, Sunday. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Manohar Pais spoke in praise of Wilfy Rebimbus and lauded his various virtues. Silence was observed for a minute in honor of Wilfy Rebimbus. Following this, James Mendonca, the former president of Mangalore Konkans Dubai, announced the name of the award and spoke about them in detail. 

The Sandesha Award for Konkani Music, which comprises a cheque of Rs 5 lakh, will be conferred on a Konkani musician who has offered the most original music.  Applications are invited for the same. The Wilfy Rebimbus Memorial Scholarship worth Rs 5 lakhs will be given to poor students studying in Sandesha School of Fine Arts. 

Vishwas Rebimbus, the son of Wilfy Rebimbus, thanked Mangalore Konkans Dubai and Sandesha for their initiative of instituting awards in his father’s name. He also thanked the Mangalore Konkans for supporting his father and wished them all success in their future endeavours.

Fr. Dennis D’Sa, the administrator of Fr. Muller Hospital, expressed appreciation for Mangalore Konkans of Dubai for donating generously to worthy causes. He said that the Wilfy Rebimbus will be immortalized in this award. 

Director of Sandesha Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Vice President of Mangalore Konkans Dubai Linus Moras, Valerian Peris, Trustee of Sandesha P. M. Castelinho, and many others were present for this programme.
