5-member gang of thieves arrested at Pachanady

Bajpe, Jan 12, 2014: Bajpe police have arrested five persons including four women in connection with the theft in a house at Ambikanagar in Paduperar village on January 2. The arrests were made on January 11, Saturday near the Pachanady Dumping Yard. Police have also seized gold jewellery worth Rs 3.25 lakhs form them.

The  arrested are Muniamma (32), Lakshmi (25), Sarasu alias Saraswathi(27), Gulabi (22) and Manja (30). All of them of Andhra origin were relatives and stayed in tents near the dumping yard.

It is learnt, the women used to gather information on isolated houses on the pretext of rag picking during day time.  Muniamma is said to be the prime accused and she faces cases in Mulki and Kundapur too.

The five had burgled the house of Padmanabha Poojari of Paduperar on January 2, afternoon when the occupants of the house were away. They had broken open the rear door to enter the house.

The arrests were made under the guidance of Panambur ACP Ravikumar.
