3 prime accused in Kalia Rafiq murder case nabbed; weapons, car seized

Mangaluru, Feb 28, 2017:  The CCB Police of Mangaluru in association with the Ullal Police have succeeded in arresting three main  accused in the case of murder of notorious rowdy Kalia Rafiq.

The weapons used in committing the crime including pistol and machetes as well as a Maruti Ertiga car have also been recovered from the trio. Kalia Rafique was hacked to death on the night of February 14 near the Kotekar petrol bunk in Ullal Police Station limits.

Informing this to reporters  here on February 28, Tuesday, City Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar said that the trio  was  arrested from  near Kallarakodi Naringana on Manjanady Nettilapadavu Road after receiving a tip off that they were in a  Maruti Ertiga car  bearing registration  number KL-14-Q-376.

Those arrested are Noor Ali (36)  of Uppala in Kasargod, Rasheed T S (30) from  Hosadurga in  Kasargod  and Husainabba alias Hussain alias Suhail alias Ustad (35) from Sangabettu village in Bantwal taluk. If Noor was a tipper owner, Rasheed was a driver by profession and Husainabba, a labourer, the Commissioner stated.

He also informed that the police have launched a dragnet to arrest the other accused in the case. The Commissioner stated that the rival group of Kalia Rafiq  was  waiting for the  right time since the past three months had had earlier  made a vain attempts on his life at least five times.

The accused as well as the seized goods have been handed over to Ullal Police.

The arrests were made by a police team led by CCB Inspector Sunil Y Naik and comprising Ullal Inspector Gopi Krishna and other personnel.

The KL registration vehicle in the city make the public grow suspicious as in most of the crimes the culprits are from Kerala state . As Mangaluru is very close to the border it is easy for them to escape
