Bantwal: One held in Farangipete Canara Bank burglary attempt

Bantwal, Jul 23, 2026: Bantwal Rural Police on Wednesday arrested a man in connection with an attempted theft at the Canara Bank branch in Farangipete.

The accused has been identified as Mohammed Shakir, a resident of Badigudde, Sujiru, Maripalla in Pudu village. Police said he is currently being questioned and further investigation is underway.

According to police, the attempted burglary took place about a week ago at the Canara Bank branch located in Menezes Plaza, Farangipete. The accused allegedly broke through the bank’s rooftop to gain entry and attempted to steal cash and gold ornaments.

A case was registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station on July 13, following which police launched an investigation. The arrest of one of the accused marks a breakthrough in the case, officials said.
