Mangalore, Sep 4, 2012: Benefits such as provident fund, health schemes, pension, welfare schemes, and others for women LIC agents were demanded at the State Level Meet of Life Insurance Corporation Agents’ Organization of India (LICAOI), the first event of its kind held in Mangalore on September 3, Monday. Around 40,000 of the total 1 lakh LIC agents in Karnataka are women.
Speaking on the occasion, S. K. Geetha, state leader of All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA), said that the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is stronger than ever today 12 years after Indian economy was privatized.
She said that the success of LIC depends entirely on its agents, including its women agents, adding that problems of women LIC agents must be especially addressed as they were working in addition to their work at home, which is not paid.
CPI (M) District Secretary B. Madhav, AIIEA Udupi Sub Division Secretary Gurudutt, and others also spoke on the occasion.
Discussions were then held and concrete resolutions were framed.
