Mangaluru: Leopard trapped in Edapadavu, residents heave a sigh of relief

Mangaluru, Aug 31, 2026: A leopard that had created panic in the Nally Seethambettu area of Edapadavu after preying on a pet dog was trapped in a cage set up by the Forest Department on Sunday.

For the past few days, the leopard had been spotted moving around various areas of Edapadavu, including Seethambettu. Local residents had complained to the Forest Department that the animal was preying on dogs and livestock.

On Saturday night, the leopard killed a pet dog belonging to Lokesh of Seethambettu. Following the incident, residents alerted the Forest Department.

Forest Department officials immediately swung into action and placed a cage in the area where the leopard had been spotted. The leopard was trapped in the cage on Sunday, bringing relief to residents who had been living in fear for several days.
