Bantwal: Biker killed after auto-rickshaw collides with motorcycle

Bantwal, Aug 31, 2026: A motorcyclist was killed in a collision between an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle near the Pelathakattе bus stop in Sajipamooda village of Bantwal taluk on the night of August 30.

The deceased has been identified as Rasheeq. According to the complaint, Rasheeq had finished work at Melkar and was travelling towards Mudipu on the Melkar-Mudipu State Highway. He was reportedly riding with his friend Abubakar Siddiq as a pillion rider and was heading towards Alampady.

Accident

At around 8 pm, an auto-rickshaw travelling from Mudipu towards Melkar allegedly collided with the motorcycle near the Pelathakatte bus stop.

The impact threw Rasheeq onto the road along with the motorcycle, leaving him with severe injuries to his head and forehead.

Abubakar and local residents rushed him to a hospital, but he had succumbed to his injuries by then.

The complaint alleges that negligent driving by the auto-rickshaw driver caused the accident. A case has been registered against the driver, identified as Shivaji Kumar, and further investigation is underway.
