Mangaluru, Aug 31, 2026: A 40-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his younger brother following a dispute over a mobile phone near Kottara Cross in the city on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Adiveppa (40), while the accused is his younger brother Raju (36).
The brothers, originally from Bailhongal in Belagavi district, lived with their mother in a rented house near Kottara Cross. Their mother ran a small roadside shop, while both brothers worked as daily-wage labourers. The two were reportedly addicted to alcohol.
According to police, an argument broke out between the brothers over a mobile phone between 10.30 pm and 11 pm on Sunday. During the altercation, Raju allegedly stabbed Adiveppa with a knife.
When their mother returned home after closing her shop, she found Adiveppa lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately rushed to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru, but he had already succumbed to his injuries.
Urvа police visited the spot, conducted an inspection and arrested Raju. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
