War tankers passing through Mangalore attract attention

Mangalore, Dec 13, 2011 :  Three large war tankers passed along the NH66 at Thokkottu Pumpwell, capturing the undivided attention of the people around.

These T-72 tankers were exhibited at the Indian Army Mela held in Kannur in Kerala from Dec 8 – 10. A. K. Anthony, the defense minister, participated in this event, where a number of war tankers were exhibited to increase awareness among the public.

After the event, the war tankers were being taken to Hyderabad. Each war tanker had 2 people in it. The tankers began their journey at Kannur, passed through Kasargod and Mangalore, on their way to Bangalore and finally to Hyderabad.

 

 

The army men were also seen cooking their meals on kerosene stoves. The local people interacted with them, and they said that they prefer cooking their own meals as they cannot get meals of their choice. They also said that the war tankers are for display purposes only.
