Mangalore, Feb 24, 2012: Addressing reporters at a press conference held in the office of the district Congress on Feb 24 Friday, former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty said that viewing porn in assembly is an offense, which should not go without punishment.
He further said that those caught viewing porn in assembly ought to be imprisoned for 3 years and fined Rs. 5 lakhs and those caught for same offense for the second time should be given a prison sentence for 7 years and made to pay a fine of Rs. 10 lakhs.
Stating that speakers must adhere to this law, he said that the offenders must be directly punished and that there is no need to form any investigative committee.
Referring to CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda’s statement that private channels ought not to be allowed in assembly, he said that this is not right and the media cannot be stopped from entering the house.
Taking a dig at the CM for holding too many portfolios, he said that the CM ought to distribute the same during cabinet expansion before he forgets all the departments he currently holds.
Criticizing Palemar, he said that Palemar cannot claim that he does not know how to operate a mobile phone when he is the district-in-charge minister.
Congress leaders P. V. Mohan, Lancelot Pinto, Gulzar Banu, Nagendra, T. K. Sudhir, and Mohan Naik were also present.
