Udupi: Two burglars arrested; jewellery recovered

Udupi, Jan 24, 2023: Police have arrested two accused in connection with the case of burglary in the Sastan house of Rajesh Poojary, a Bengaluru hotelier in September last year.

Those arrested are Rajesh Devadiga and Mohammad Riyaz Hosmar alias Riyaz. Police who checked their car on suspicion found jewellery without any records. On questioning the duo admitted that it was stolen jewellery and they were going towards Shivamogga to sell the same. The stolen jewellery worth Rs 15 lakhs has been recovered by the police apart from a Forde car worth Rs 2.5 lakhs purchased with the stolen money and two bikes, all valued at Rs 19 lakhs.

The duo came into contact with each other while in Hiriadka prison earlier and used to identify locked houses in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, to commit theft.
