Udupi: Two absconding accused arrested after 11 years in theft case

Udupi, Feb 3, 2026: Malpe police have arrested two accused who had been absconding for the past 11 years in connection with a theft case reported at Malpe Beach.

The arrested persons have been identified as Asha Sumithra Krishna and Rekha Danappa. The duo was involved in a theft incident at Malpe Beach and had failed to appear before the court for nearly 11 years.


Abscond


A team of Malpe police personnel, including Suresh Kumar, Vishwanath and Sinchana, traced and arrested the accused from the Hosamane area of Bhadravathi taluk in Shivamogga district on January 31.

The accused were produced before the court and were remanded to judicial custody. They have been lodged at Mangaluru prison, police said.
