Moodbidri, Jul 17, 2026: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has accorded approval to Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, to admit 150 students to the MBBS course at its newly established Alva’s Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMSRC), Mijar, from the academic year 2026-27.
A release from the foundation here said the NMC approval marks a significant milestone for its ambitious medical education project. It said AIMSRC, located adjacent to National Highway 169 at Mijar in Moodbidri, will function with the aim of integrating medical education, cutting-edge healthcare services and research.
The institution is ready to provide quality medical education with state-of-the-art infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, hospital facilities and experienced faculty, the release said.
The approval will give 150 students an opportunity to pursue MBBS in the first academic year, creating new opportunities for medical education aspirants in the State, including coastal Karnataka. In addition to further enhancing the quality of medical education, the institution is also expected to make a significant contribution to healthcare and medical research, the release added.
Foundation chairman M. Mohan Alva expressed gratitude to all those who supported, guided and cooperated in realising the initiative, including the NMC, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, the Karnataka government, the State Health and Family Welfare Department and the Dakshina Kannada District Health Department.
He said the approval marked a new chapter in the educational journey of Alva’s Education Foundation in the field of medical education, and another significant step towards shaping competent doctors of the future and providing quality healthcare to society.
