Sullia: Villagers protest alleged false promises, put up banner calling for election boycott

Mangalore Today News Network

Sullia, Feb 9, 2026: Villagers have put up a banner calling for a boycott of voting, accusing politicians of making false promises and neglecting them. The incident took place at Valtaje in Devachalla village of Sullia taluk.

Poll boycot call

The banner, displayed at the Bulkaje turn on the Valtaje–Karangallu road and on the Valtaje–Malerkumery road in Devachalla village, criticizes politicians who allegedly performed a groundbreaking ceremony, distributed sweets, and sought applause after promising to concrete the roads, but later failed to fulfill those promises.

The banner states that if such neglect continues, the villagers will boycott the upcoming elections. By putting up this banner, the villagers have expressed their strong resentment against what they call false assurances by political leaders.
