Subrahmanian Swamy’s comments on Rahul triggers protest by Congress men

Mangalore, Dec 18, 2013: Congress workers including MLA JR Lobo  picketed the Circuit House in Mangalore on December 17, Tuesday night condemning the  statement of senior BJP leader Dr Subrahmanian Swamy  making a mockery of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.

 

Swamy who was in the city to participate in a lecture programme, while replying to question from a woman from the audience during an interactive session  had said “ Rahul Gandhi  is an idiot, had no knowledge about politics and takes cocaine, which suggests that he is a drug addict.”

The programme telecast live on a local channel, triggered protest by angry Congress workers. Congress men who had gathered outside the Circuit House where Swamy was staying demanded an apology from him for the derogatory comments on Rahul.

As BJP workers too gathered there led an altercation and a clash and the police had to intervene to disperse the crowd.

The Congress has lodged a complaint with the Kadri police  against the remark made by Swamy.
