Maharashtra FDA Issues Notices to Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff Over Pan Masala Ad

Mangalore Today News Network

Mumbai, Aug 16, 2026: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued show-cause notices to actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff over their alleged indirect promotion of Vimal pan masala through an advertisement for Vimal Elaichi.

The actors appeared together in a Vimal Elaichi advertisement in 2024. In notices issued on August 11, Maharashtra Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe directed them to discontinue their association with the campaign and remove related promotional content from their social media accounts.

Notice over Pan Masala Ad

According to the FDA, the use of the Vimal brand name in the advertisement could create an association with pan masala, which is prohibited for manufacture, storage, transportation, distribution and sale in Maharashtra.

The department has also sought copies of the actors’ endorsement agreements, campaign briefs, payment details and due-diligence records.

Under consumer protection laws, misleading endorsements can attract penalties of up to ₹50 lakh, while endorsers may face restrictions on promoting products for up to three years.

The issue is similar to the controversy involving actor Akshay Kumar, who apologised in 2022 after facing criticism for appearing in a Vimal Elaichi advertisement with Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn.
