State political problems will be sort out by Gadkari : Advani

Mtoday news

Udupi, Dec 11: Former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said that BJP National President Nitin Gadkari has already visited the State and the problems in the party will be solved by him.

Advani was speaking to media persons during his visit to the holy shrine of Pajaka Kshetra, the birth place of ‘Dwaitha’ philosophy proponent Saint Madhvacharya. He said, “Gadkari along with leaders Arun Jaitley and Dharmendra Pradhan was in Karnataka to go through the political problems within the party and the government. All issues will be taken care by them.”

Declining to comment further on queries related to political issues in the State, Advani said, “mujhe rajneethi se chutti deejiye” (give me leave from politics).

Advani said though he had visited Udupi and Mangalore earlier, he had no opportunity to visit the sacred Pajaka Kshetra. “I am very much fortunate to visit the birth place of Acharya Madhwa. I agreed to visit the shrine when Minister Dr V S Acharya called and extended an invitation to visit the holy place of Pajaka yesterday,” he said.

Pejawar mutt seer Sri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji was present at Pajaka to welcome Advani.

Later, addressing the party workers at district BJP office, Advani called upon the elected Municipal and Panchayath members of Karnataka, especially Udupi, to become role models through their selfless service by responding to the grievances of the people.

He said the role of elected representatives in municipalities and Panchayaths is more vital than that of the elected members of State Legislature or the Parliament. “Elected members in the Municipalities and Panchayats are in constant touch with public. Hence, they should serve better for the development of their locality. They can respond to all needs of the local people directly,” he added.

He said that he has come to Udupi not to give any political speech but to recollect the memories of earlier visit. “My political burden has been reduced drastically in the last one year. This year is good for me due to the reduced political burden and I was able to travel extensively from Gangothri to Rameshwar,” he added.

Impressive Progress

Advani said that the State under its first BJP rule in South India has recorded an impressive progress and will maintain the success in future too.

“I have special affection towards Karnataka, especially Bangalore and Udupi after my 19 months stay in jail in Bangalore during the emergency period. I am impressed with the divinity of Udupi and has more attachment to the City, since the Jan Sangh had won the Udupi Town Municipal election for the first time 42 years ago,” he added. Earlier, addressing the gathering, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa appealed voters of the three districts including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Madikeri to vote for BJP during the forthcoming ZP and TP polls. Voters should opt BJP considering the development works taken up by the government in the State, he added.

The government has already brought out handouts of its achievements, which will be distributed among the public to create awareness on the facts and figures of development work, he said.

Later, Advani inaugurated the ‘Samajeeka Samavesha Samarambha’ organised as part of the 80th birthday celebrations of Pejawar mutt seer Sri Vishveshatheertha Sripada at Sri Krishna temple premises.
