Moodabidri: Good for Good Trust marks first anniversary with new Physiotherapy & Fitness Room at Spoorthi Special School

Moodabidri, Sep 16, 2025: Good for Good Charitable Trust celebrated its first anniversary by inaugurating a Physiotherapy and Fitness Room at Spoorthi Special School and Training Centre, Moodabidri, on Friday, September 12. The event also coincided with Teachers’ Day celebrations, adding special significance to the occasion.

The new facility, inaugurated jointly by the children of Spoorthi and Trust President Akshay Suvarna, features specialized therapy devices, fitness equipment, soft mats, and colourful wall art to create a vibrant and supportive environment for therapy sessions. As part of the initiative, the Trust also donated four bicycles to students excelling in competitions. The project, costing around ₹2.5 lakh, was fully funded by the Trust.

Trust President Akshay Suvarna, speaking on the occasion, reflected on the Trust’s journey and its commitment to inclusive education. “Celebrating our first anniversary with these special children brings us immense satisfaction. The dedicated service at Spoorthi inspires us all. For any social organization with a community-focused vision, the ultimate goal remains nation-building through individual transformation,” he said.

The founder of Spoorthi Special School, Prakash J. Shettigar, was felicitated and expressed gratitude to the Trust for its noble contribution. Parents welcomed the new facilities, calling them a step toward empowerment and inclusion of special children.

Dignitaries present included Sathyaraj Shettigar, Vice President, and Sachith Kulal, Joint Secretary of Good for Good Trust; Amit D’Silva, President, Lions Club Alangaru; trustees of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Sadashiva Shetty and Yuvaraj Jain; Dr. Asma of Alva’s Health Centre (Homeopathy); Latha Suresh, President of the Parents’ Committee; Headmistress Sharmila Vas; and Student Welfare Officer Anita Rodrigues.

The programme began with lamp-lighting, followed by a welcome address from Latha Suresh. Prithviraj Jain compered the event. Physiotherapy students from Alva’s College assisted children in using the new equipment. The day concluded with cultural activities and Teachers’ Day celebrations, with enthusiastic participation from the children.
